If you wish to direct a domain name that you have to another domain name or subdomain, a good way to do this would be to use a CNAME record. By creating such a record, the domain being redirected loses all its records (A, MX, etc) and instead, it takes the A record of the domain name it's pointed to. This way, if you are using a web design service by some company that gives you a subdomain, you can use an actual domain name and not only will it be pointed to the Internet site you have set up, but it will also appear in the browser address bar at all times. Some other possible uses of a CNAME record are to direct all the visitors from different subdomains to their main Internet domain, or to use the webmail service of your webhosting company by using webmail.your-doman.com, for example. The latter will work only by creating a CNAME record for a subdomain since this type of a record set up for the main domain makes it impossible to use e-mail addresses.

CNAME Records in Cloud Web Hosting

If you have a cloud web hosting plan from our company and you want to create a CNAME record, it will take you just a few clicks to get it done. You can access the DNS records for all domains and subdomains hosted in your account via the Hepsia Control Panel included with every single plan and adding a new record is as easy as clicking on a button, selecting the type, that will be CNAME in this case, inputting the actual record value and saving the modification. In case you have never added this type of record before, we have a Help section with a detailed video tutorial which you can watch, or you can simply contact us and we will assist you with this task. If you have set up a site via another provider, you want to use a private URL for your webmail or you want to designate a subdomain to be used with the services of a different provider, such as Google Apps, all it takes is creating a CNAME record with a few mouse clicks in your Control Panel.

CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with every single one of our semi-dedicated server accounts, will enable you to set up a CNAME record easily. In case you want to create a private URL for your e-mails, to point a domain address to a subdomain within the account or to forward a domain name to another company and use some third-party service that they provide, it's not going to take you more than three clicks to create this type of record. All DNS records for the domains and subdomains hosted within the semi-dedicated account will be listed in a separate section in the Control Panel, so when you are there, all you will have to do will be to choose the type of the record that you want to set up and the hostname for which you are creating it, and then enter the actual record text. For your benefit, you can watch a short video in the CP concerning how to create a CNAME record or you can follow the instructions in the help article, that is available in the DNS records section.
